Interbank Strengthens Sustainable Finance by Adopting the Equator Principles
Lima, January 16, 2023.- Interbank announces that it has adopted the Equator Principles and has become one of the global Equator Principles Financial Institutions (EPFIs) by joining the Equator Principles Association.
The Equator Principles (EPs) is a globally recognized risk management framework, adopted by financial institutions, for determining, assessing and managing environmental and social risk in projects and is primarily intended to provide a minimum standard for due diligence and monitoring to support responsible risk decision-making. EPFIs have covered most international project finance debt within developed and emerging markets.
To fully implement the EPs, Interbank will continue integrating robust ESG risk management standards into the lending decision-making process and management of project finance. "The finance industry plays a vital role in transitioning to a more sustainable world. Incorporating ESG risk analysis is an opportunity to take specific actions to mitigate the exposure to climate risks and manage negative social and economic impacts. New trends driven by innovation to adapt and mitigate climate risks present a new business landscape. We believe these trends will bring long-term positive impact in the society where we develop our activities", emphasized Luis Felipe Castellanos, CEO of Interbank.
